Bio
In 2020, Ar Lewi arrived in Los Angeles and started making records. In just five years, he completed six albums, drawing some of the best musicians from Los Angeles and Austin into his orbit—players who’ve worked with legends like Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson, as well as modern greats like Angel Olsen.
Before his first album Tiemann Place (2021), Ar Lewi collaborated with film legend Jonas Mekas (Andy Warhol, The Velvet Underground, John And Yoko), on a film/album called Emergency Bible Study and co-composed the original soundtrack to The Buffalo Hunt which won Best Feature Length Documentary at the Prague Film Awards.
Ar has collaborated with some of the most sought-after “direct-to-tape” producers, including Michael Harris (Angel Olsen, Hand Habits) and Billy Horton (Charley Crockett, Theo Lawrence), while also self-recording albums like Two Minds in his apartment closet on a four-track cassette machine.
With critical acclaim from Americana UK, a Launch Left Artist feature (December 2024), radio support from KXLU’s Wildwood Flower Radio Hour, and film and television placements in Wish You Were Here, Couples Therapy (Showtime), and Skymed (Netflix), Ar’s music continues to find a growing audience.
Ar is working on releasing his forthcoming record Ringside—and bringing his raw, quietly powerful live show to towns across the country.
